In addition the program offers a video preview of each lesson so that the student already knows exactly what to expect before he/she starts spending money in the airplane. This ensures the best allocation of time and money to move the student toward realizing the dream of flying. The following is a brief synopsis of the requirements and privileges of the pilot licenses that can be obtained through flight lessons at Gulf Coast Aviation flight school: SPORT PILOT A sport pilot’s license allows you many of the same priveledges as a private pilot’s license as long as you fly in a Light Sport Aircraft (LSA). Gulf Coast Aviation has just taken delivery of a factory new Cessna Skycatcher which enables you to become a pilot for under $5000. To become a private license you must pass a written test on the required aeronautical knowledge, log a minimum of 20 hours of flight time, and pass the required practical (flight) test. While no medical is required by the FAA for Sport Pilots, to ensure the safety of everyone, Gulf Coast Aviation requires a medical certificate from an aviation medical examiner (AME) for its Sport Pilot students. You can find an AME near you by visiting flightphysical.com Download the brochure above to see a graphical respresentation of the course components. Getting started is easy! Just call us today to schedule your first lesson! PRIVATE PILOT A private pilot’s license allows you to fly day or night in good weather and carry non-paying passengers such as friends and family. To earn a private license you must pass a written test on the required aeronautical knowledge, log a minimum of 40 hours of flight time, and pass the required practical (flight) test. Before your first solo you’ll need to pass an FAA physical given by an FAA Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). You can find an AME near you by visiting flightphysical.com You might think that a flight school with modern aircraft like ours would cost you more money, but you’ll actually end up saving money, time, and frustration by receiving your flight training with us. Getting started is easy! Just call us today to schedule your first lesson! More on the Private Pilot Certificate INSTRUMENT RATING An instrument rating gives you the additional freedom to fly through clouds and lower visibilities that private pilots are unable to fly through. An additional 40 hours of flight time after earning a private license is required to earn an instrument rating. You must also pass a written test and a practical (flight) test. Earn your Instrument rating in our G1000 aircraft and really take advantage of the additional safety that the superb redundancy and sitautional awareness of the system provides. COMMERCIAL PILOT Earn your commercial pilot certificate in our air-conditioned Piper Seminole and graduate airline-ready! A commercial pilot’s certificate, unlike a private pilot’s certificate, allows you to carry persons or property for compensation or hire, with some restrictions. To be eligible for a commercial license you must hold at least a private pilot certificate, pass a written test on the required aeronautical knowledge, have logged at least 250 hours of flight time, and pass the required practical (flight) test. Even business or recreational pilots will benefit from the commercial pilot certificate by enjoying a higher level of safety and also lower insurance premiums. MULTI-ENGINE RATING If you want to be an airline pilot, train like one in Gulf Coast Aviation’s Piper Seminole. While there is no minimum number of hours required for a multi-engine add-on, you can expect to spend approximately 6-8 hours training for your multi-engine rating. This can be accomplished in as little as three days. AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT Earn your ATP airline ready and stand out above your peers. This course can be completed in as little as two – three days for those who are instrument proficient. Additional time and hours can be purchased for those who need to brush up on their instrument skills.
